Kaupapa Māori | Cultural Services

Connection to culture.

We aim to be a pillar of Ao Māori for Tāhuna, enabling Māori in Tāhuna to be connected to Te Ao Māori and providing training and education for non-Māori.

Cultural capability

We provide customised training and support for individuals and organisations who are seeking to be better Te Tiriti partners and genuinely increase their competency in engaging with Te Ao Māori, tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

Community engagement & events

We host events to connect with Te Ao Māori, learn about mātauranga Māori, Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga. Our events range from the annual Waitangi Day celebration in collaboration with Queenstown-Lakes District Council and Matariki celebrations to wānanga and noho (retreat-style stays), providing individuals with opportunities to learn about and connect with their Māoritanga.

Mau Rakau

Mau Rākau is a traditional Māori martial art where one learns the practices, values and protocols of a Māori warrior.

This unique programme gives our kids the opportunity to learn Māori culture and traditions, gain new skills and get fit.

This programme is run by Matua Ned Webster who is currently Pou-Whā. Ned provides a fun and inclusive learning environment where kids develop a specialised skill set, and help to preserve the rich culture and art of the Māori warrior.

He taonga te mokopuna, kia whāngaia, kia tipu, kia rea.

A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish.
