Providing Better Futures for our Rangatahi

We are working hard to increase Māori and Pasifika representation in future industries. Through our work with the Youth Hub as well as a Tauira support fund, we are breaking barriers to education and ensuring equal access to opportunities.

Ko te Hoeroa te Whare!

Te Hoeroa is the name of our Youth Hub, meaning steering paddle.

Our team is 'te rūhā', the old net, making way for our Rangatahi. We will use Te Hoeroa to steer these Rangatahi down their chosen path.

Loosely based around the whakatauki;

"Ka pū te rūhā, ka hao te rangatahi"

"The old net is cast aside, the new net goes fishing"

Te Hoera / Youth Hub

We work hard to provide a safe place for rangatahi to learn and explore their Māori culture.

It's a space for all Rangatahi to utilise to complete schoolwork, hang out, play games and immerse themselves in Te Ao Māori in a relaxed way.

Rangatahi between Yr 8-13 can come to our Youth hub, located underneath Toru Apartments, Remarks Park, whenever they feel the need between the hours of 10-6.

Mau Rakau

Mau Rākau is a traditional Māori martial art where one learns the practices, values and protocols of a Māori warrior.

This unique programme gives our kids the opportunity to learn Māori culture and traditions, gain new skills and get fit.

This programme is run by Matua Ned Webster who is currently Pou-Whā. Ned provides a fun and inclusive learning environment where kids develop a specialised skill set, and help to preserve the rich culture and art of the Māori warrior.

He taonga te mokopuna, kia whāngaia, kia tipu, kia rea.

A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish.
